Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Claude Chess (claude-chess.com) collects, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: you can play without an account and nothing about your games leaves your browser. If you sign in, we store the basics needed to run your account and your saved games. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers.
If you do not sign in
The games and their computer opponents run in your browser. We do not receive your moves. The Opus game stores a single sound on/off preference in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your device and you can clear it in your browser settings.
If you sign in
You sign in with Google or GitHub. We receive and store the following from that provider:
- your name and email address;
- your profile image address;
- an account identifier and the tokens the provider issues for the sign-in.
We use this only to create and recognise your account. We never see your Google or GitHub password.
Sessions and cookies
After you sign in we set a session cookie so the site knows it is you. It is strictly necessary for signing in, and we use no other cookies. Each session record also stores the IP address and user agent (browser and device description) of the request that created it, which helps us detect abuse. Sessions expire automatically.
Saved games
When you save a game we store the game position and move data, a title, the result, which model's game it came from, and timestamps. Saved games are tied to your account and visible only to you. You can delete any saved game from the Saved games panel.
Who processes your data
- Cloudflare hosts the site and stores account data and saved games in its database. It also processes request data, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site.
- Google and GitHub authenticate you when you choose them. Their own privacy policies apply to that sign-in.
We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Account data and saved games are kept until you ask us to delete your account. Session records are removed when they expire or when you sign out.
Your choices
- Play without signing in to avoid any account data.
- Delete saved games yourself at any time.
- Email us to access, correct or delete your account and everything stored with it.
- Revoke the app's access from your Google or GitHub account settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have further legal rights over your personal data, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
The Service is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
